1. Bronx Zoo – If you are a Bank of America (BOA) customer and have a BOA ATM, debit or credit card, you will get free tickets on the first weekend of each month. Also on Wednesdays throughout the year admissions are paid as you wish or you simply make a donation. You may have to pay for separate exhibits. It is one of the largest zoos we have been to.
2. Toys r Us: This 3-story toy paradise is right in the heart of Times Square. There is also a Ferris wheel ride inside the store! Kids can sit in their favorite seat at the wheel: a cozy coupe, a school bus, or a pink Barbie Cadillac, Cars. You can also go to FAO Schwarz. This huge 50,000 square foot toy store is located on Fifth Avenue-58th Street, and is a landmark in New York. The giant Bobby the Toy Soldier by the entrance is very welcoming and a great photo opportunity. They have many interactive activities including a piano dance; the same one that Tom Hanks danced to, in the movie Big.
3. Brooklyn Botanic Garden: There is a free program on Saturdays from 10 to 12, if there are no special events. Children 12 and under are always free.
4. NY Aquarium, Brooklyn: As BOA customers, the first few weekends are free. However, every Friday between 3:00 p.m. Until closing at 4:30 p.m. M., Pay what you want. Children under 2 years old are always free. Children are sure to enjoy exhibits featuring more than 8,000 animals from the southwestern coast of Africa to the nearby Hudson River.
5. The Jewish Museum: children under 12 are always free. They have Free Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Also, as a BOA customer the first weekends of each month are free. Children from 3 to 10 years old can enjoy the interactive Archaeological Zone. Here children can discover what happens to the artifacts once they are unearthed and taken to laboratories for analysis.
6. Museum of Children’s Art: Thursdays from 4 to 6 pm, pay what you want. The art work of young people from 50 different countries and some adults, all geared towards children, is sure to pique their interest in art.
7. Skating Rinks: Admission to the Bryant Park Ice Skating Rink is free. However, the skate rental costs $ 12 each. If you are visiting family / friends you can always borrow yours, that’s what we do! South Street Seaport – Seaport Ice admission is only $ 5 and $ 7 (cash only) for skate rental. Ice skating at Rockefeller Center, this is a great winter season New York experience. Admission is only $ 5, Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. M. At 1:00 p. M.
8. NY Hall of Science – Located in Flushing, Queens, and free to BOA customers the first weekend of each month. Admission from September to June is free on Fridays from 2 to 5 p.m. M. And on Sundays from 10 to 11 a. M. Children can explore and enjoy hands-on science and technology exhibits.
9. Story time: No matter where you are, children always enjoy story time; and a little free time for you. Most Barnes & Noble bookstores offer stories for children of different ages. Time and days will vary by location. You also want to check it out at the local library near where you are staying. Story times are usually about 30 minutes long, with stories, songs, coloring, or some crafts. The best part is that it is always free!
10. Coney Island Beach: People don’t often come to New York for its beaches. However, this Brooklyn-located beach offers the combined fun of a 3-mile boardwalk, the not-so-common Circus Sideshow by the sea, and an amusement park. You can also enjoy walking along the long pier.
