After you pass the course, you have to go through some background checks to make sure you don’t have any skeletons in your closet. The final step is an interview with the Jamaica Real Estate Board for final approval to become a Listing Agent.

This course is four weeks full time at the Faculty of Built Environment at the Technological University of Jamaica. It offers the necessary material for you to become an efficient agent in the local market, because what you don’t know can hurt you. You will receive training to handle Jamaican property transactions such as sales, rentals and leases.

The nature of the industry involves large monetary transactions and in that field you may find people of a dishonest nature. In order to protect people and their assets from things like fraud, a background check is done on every applicant for license approval, one of these checks is a police report.
The interview with the board
After gathering all of your background check documents, you must submit these documents and attend an interview with a real estate board official who puts the final stamp of approval on your application to become a sales agent in Jamaica.
