Moon fertility: myths and truths

Much has been written and said about Lunar fertility methods. Most of the articles are critical and some are biased in one way or another. Most so-called scientific papers reject any relationship between fertility and the Moon.

However, there are some scientific studies that point to the fact that the ovulation cycle may NOT be the only fertility cycle in operation.

A 2003 research study by researchers at the University of Saskatchewan funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) has uncovered evidence suggesting that the traditionally accepted model of the human menstrual cycle is incorrect.

Prior to this 2003 study, researchers at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences in Durham, North Carolina, found in a 2000 study that a woman’s fertile window, the six days of each month when she has the most chances of conceiving, it is extremely difficult to predict. This research showed too clearly that a woman can be fertile at any other time of the month …

That is why some women get pregnant, even when they thought they had had sex during a so-called infertile and safe period. The reverse is also true: some women who persistently and only follow their ovulation cycle do not get pregnant, even if they think they are in a fertile period. They may be in a fertile period, but clearly not in YOUR personal fertile period!

They forget, neglect or, above all, are unaware that there are also other fertile times when they can get pregnant. By just following your ovulation cycle, you are missing out on other opportunities and neglecting the way nature works. But they are not to blame! It is the widespread “belief” that the ovulation cycle is the only fertile cycle that counts as being wrong. And medical textbooks!

Nature never works in a linear fashion, that is. Nature is not linear and cyclical and there are different cycles at work that make it even more complex.

From different opportune moments of sexual intercourse that result in pregnancy, astrologers can identify those other fertile periods and cycles.

1) The best known fertility cycle was (re) discovered by Dr. Jonas, a psychiatrist from Czechoslovakia who discovered that there are two independent monthly fertility rhythms: the ovulation cycle and the period of time in the monthly cycle in which sexual intercourse can increase “reflex ovulation” (spontaneous ovulation). Reflex ovulation is related to the return of the lunar phase, that is, the repetition of the angle between your natal Sun and the natal Moon.

Whenever there is a return to the monthly moon phase, the woman is in a fertile period (regardless of her own biological or ovulation cycle) and can become pregnant.

When in the progressions of a female horoscope there is a return of the moon phase (actually, around the age of 27), we can expect this to be the year of greatest fertility.

Whether or not the moon phase cycle represents a biological process is not yet proven or unproven. Furthermore, the relationship between the Moon (phases), Moon phase returns, and the indirect effects of celestial factors and the pineal gland and the results thereof have not yet been fully discovered and understood. There is probably some kind of connection.

From my astrological practice, I have discovered that the return of the moon phase is a very important fertility cycle that should not be neglected, but it is not the only one and it does not work for all women.

This makes sense since human beings remain individuals with individual characteristics, cycles, traits, behavior, expectations, etc. There will never be one method that works for everyone all the time. What helps one may not help the other, and vice versa. The general thought or belief that a single medicine or method can cure an illness or cure cannot be correct for that reason. There is no panacea.

In that sense, human beings are not really born equal.

2) A second fertility cycle can be found each time the transiting Moon conjugates with the natal Ascendant. The position of the Moon here marks another fertile high. Interestingly, the Ascendant marks the time of the native’s birth. When the Moon travels on the Ascendant, it causes or triggers another moment of “birth” that may be related to the conception of a child.

3) A third important fertility cycle is found when the transiting Moon is parallel to the natal Sun. A parallel is formed when two points or planets are in the same declination within a 1 ° orb. Declination is the number of degrees that a point or planet is north or south of the equator. Declines can be found on any anniversary. This Sun-Moon combo is another that mixes the lunar and solar principle, as with the return of the lunar phase and denotes another fertile moment.

There are also some other possible fertility cycles, for example the Moon in transit exactly at the solstice point of the Sun, but in my astrological practice I have not found this to be convincing yet. More research is needed.

The more the different fertility cycles coincide, including the ovulation cycle, the higher the chances of getting pregnant. Clearly, if women tried to learn to think outside the box and try these fertility cycles, they could increase their chances of getting pregnant (provided there are no medical problems preventing them from getting pregnant).

However, it is not yet clear how we can know in advance which method will work for which woman. Some women respond very well to the moon phase return theory, while others respond very well to the lunar ascendant theory, and others follow their ovulation cycle, etc. At the moment, you can only know which method works by trying them all and diligently following up on them.

Fortunately, after all, these methods have more advantages than disadvantages, they are quite simple to follow and almost free. So why not try them all together?
