The PlayStation 4 was released in North America on November 15, 2013. About two and a half years later, the PlayStation 4 received many changes to the overall design and interface. When the console originally launched, it had a very simple user interface that was lacking in many features. Since launch we’ve received a host of new notification options, more social connectivity, SharePlay, PlayStation Now, PlayStation Vue, a PlayStation Music rebrand that now incorporates Spotify, and many more features. What does all this mean for Sony as a company? These new additions have continued to help the PlayStation brand lead the console sales pack, selling millions more units than its counterparts on Wii U and Xbox One. But what can Sony do to continue to maintain this dominance in the gaming market? the consoles?
A great way to accomplish this task is to continue to push the boundaries of PlayStation technology and the services they offer. New apps are added almost every week. New games are released every day. The console now features a variety of games containing hundreds of unique experiences for every variety of gamer. Not only is the catalog strong now, the lineup for 2016 looks bigger and better than ever. Some games to mention that should be coming out include Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, No Man’s Sky, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and Street Fight V. Those are just the games that are console exclusives for Sony’s system. Not to mention the number of third-party games that will release even more games on the console this year.
PlayStation is constantly innovating and we believe it will continue to do so in the future. We’ve mentioned a good number of upcoming releases, but what else will Sony add to its console’s interface and feature list? Will you add folders to help clean up the UI a bit?
