Saint Francis in Christmas Songs

As everyone imagines snow at Christmas, San Francisco’s winter weather is nothing like Christmas. Despite this, Saint Francis appears in popular Christmas songs. The most famous is “Christmas in San Francisco”. Another is “Christmas by the Bay.” The last one is “It’s Christmas once again in San Francisco”. Since the author does not know Christmas songs from New York, Chicago or Los Angeles, for example, the city must have a certain harmony with Christmas. Such harmony may be the romantic atmosphere that this city has.

Among these Christmas songs, “It’s Christmas once again in San Francisco” is the one that makes people happy and smile.

It begins with rhythmic, western-style country music; “It’s Christmas once again in San Francisco. Not a snowflake to be found. No sleigh rides or snowmen like you see on a Christmas card.” This sentence is short but concise to describe the Bay Area at Christmas. It’s short but enough to get people’s attention.

The song continues; “Oh, but we have a lot of Christmas in our hearts.” This short line of music makes the people of San Franciso nod and whisper in their brains; “Yes, we do. Yes, we do.”

The next sentence repeats the first sentence. The women’s choir joins the lead vocalist and leaves; “It’s Christmas once again in San Francisco. Not a snowflake to be found. No sleigh rides or snowmen like you see on a Christmas card.” This time it sounds more cheerful with female voices. They make a big difference.

The first part ends with the repetition of the mind of the people of the Bay Area; “Oh, but we have a lot of Christmas, we have a lot of Christmas, we have a lot of Christmas in our hearts.” This part is also a mixed vocal chorus and sounds more colorful. It almost sounds like seeing snow glistening.

This is the song that the people of the Bay Area sing. Many homes in the Bay Area began to dress up for Christmas with colored lights. On Eucalyptus Avenue in San Calros, Bay Area, there are houses that amply light up their homes for Christmas. Some of the houses there bring snow for the children to play in. Children in the San Francisco Bay Area look forward to the arrival of Santa Claus. Although San Francisco does not have a climate like that of Christmas in many other areas, they share the spirit of Christmas. They celebrate Christmas like everyone else. All of San Francisco is looking forward to it. They feel exactly what the song says: “Oh, but we have a lot of Christmas in our hearts.”
