What makes Ducati motorcycles so desirable?

Some people ask what makes Ducati bikes so desirable. If you don’t know anything about motorcycles, then you don’t know that Ducati has been around since 1926. It’s an Italian company with about 1,200 employees and they really know what they’re doing. Therefore, they have had a long time to come up with their names. They have become extremely popular every year since. One of the reasons this motorcycle manufacturer is so desirable is because that’s all they make. They specialize in motorcycles and only motorcycles (plus accessories and merchandise). They are not average motorcycles either, as they are high performance. Riding one of these bikes gives a feeling similar to what children have on Christmas day. There are four key reasons why these bikes are so desirable. Well, five, one of them is the passion of the Italian, but we won’t really go into that here.

The four key reasons for desire are easy to pinpoint.

1. Speed:

Just by looking at a “Duke”, many people would guess that they are fast. There is no denying that there are passionate people out there. Many of these people want the fastest car or motorcycle on the planet. That’s just what you’ll get with a Ducati. The truth is, unless you’re a stuntman on a closed course, you’ll never reach the top speed of a newer Ducati on the street (hopefully). These bikes will blow anything on four wheels out of the water. The Ducati 1098 has been said to have a zero to sixty mph time of under three seconds! Let’s also make a key point that they have air-cooled engines to cool them down.

2. Style/Design:

These bikes are extremely unique because they are designed and not “decorated”. I think they are the most stylish bikes you can buy. They also bring the high-performance engine to life in the bike’s design. These bikes can last a lifetime and longer inside and out. As Ducati says, “Designed by the stopwatch. Designed by the racetrack.”

3. Proven success in racing:

Ducati have a long history with racing, they like to win and they have a LOT of titles to back them up. Let’s start with a title in 2007 in the MotoGP World Championship. How about thirteen coveted Superbike World Championship (SBK) titles spanning from 1990-2008? Four of them were won riding a Ducati 916. That’s not all ladies and gentlemen, eight titles in the British Superbike Championship and two in the AMA Superbike Championship! These bikes can obviously race and the track results are there to prove it.

4. Groups of enthusiasts:

One very clever thing that Ducati has focused on since the 1990s is marketing. They have put together a lot of things to connect with branding efforts. This would include online communities and local enthusiast groups around the world offering exclusive Ducati insurance. Here are some numbers based on groups: 400 Ducati clubs worldwide, 20,000 registered users on the Ducati Owners Club website, and 17,000 subscribers on the racing website. People have their eyes on the next models and many buy them on launch day. If you haven’t had a chance to see one in action let alone ride one, it’s highly recommended!
