A review of the Acer Iconia W700

Acer has been one of the pioneers in the computer manufacturing industry. This Taiwanese electronics corporation has built a strong track record when it comes to manufacturing quality products. From being a powerhouse in Asia, the company steadily grew to become the world’s second largest PC maker and number one laptop maker. People have trusted this brand because they know what they are getting is worth their money.

Like all other computer manufacturers, they also jumped on the bandwagon of launching their own line of tablets. Their newest product that will be available in the market on October 28 is the Acer Iconia W700. Most of the stores that sell the Iconia W series are excited about this tablet as it will give their customers another option to choose from when shopping for a mobile device.

This belongs to the large category of tablets due to its 11.6-inch screen size. What’s exciting about this tablet is that it’s one of the first tablets to run on a Windows 8 operating system platform. Yes, if you thought Windows Surface tablets would be the only Windows 8 devices, think again. Actually, the Iconia W700 will be available just two days after the Surface’s market debut on the 26th.

You can actually think of this as a hybrid tablet PC because when you connect it to your wireless Bluetooth keyboard and docking station, you can already turn this tablet into a complete mobile office. Tablet owners from the other Taiwanese manufacturer, Asus, will see the resemblance of the Asus Transformer series to this Acer product, as both have detachable keyboard options that can transform them into netbook-like devices.

However, vendors selling the Iconia Tab A500 will tell you that it will cost a bit more compared to previous Iconia models. But with three models to choose from, you’ll be able to find the one that best suits your specifications. The most affordable among the three models will sell for $750, with 64 GB of internal storage and an Intel Core i3 Ivy Bridge processor. It’s still pretty powerful for a tablet, but compared to other mobile devices, the price is high.

This 11.6-inch tablet has a 10-point touchscreen with a 1080 Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Text and images look crisp, clear, and bright. Even if it’s heavier than most tablets at 2.3 lbs., it’s easy to handle and navigate and can easily fit into any backpack or large bag. The aesthetic is simple and elegant with its plastic silver finish.

Feature-wise, it’s fast and quick to respond when it comes to launching apps. But as said above, those who sell Galaxy Tab 4G 10.1 16GB would say that it could be expensive. However, if money is not an issue, it is worth buying.
