Bangkok: the unforgettable experience

Thailand becomes one of the most popular tourist destinations with more than 10 million tourists visiting in the year 2010. Since there are various types of tourist attractions such as cultural, natural, historical, night life and shopping places with low cost for tourists, Thailand was named as the most worthy place to travel. Therefore, the number of tourists has grown every year. However, many of Thailand’s tourist spots are located in Bangkok, especially historical, cultural, shopping, and nightlife spots.

With two hundred years of history, Bangkok is not only the capital of Thailand but also a vibrant and highly diverse metropolis. It is a good mix between modern and original culture. Many people from other parts of Thailand and other nationalities of various cultures and religions stay together in peace.

Established by King Rama I in the year 1782, after the death of King Taksin of Thonburi, by order of King Rama I, the capital was moved to the other side of the Chaopraya River. The Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew) and the Grand Palace were built near the river bank. In this position, he thought it was easier to protect the capital from the enemy than on the other side of the river. In addition, he ordered canals to be dug around the capital area, known as the old Bangkok area for security reasons. This is why Westerners later called Bangkok the Venice of the East because there were many canals around the city. Bangkok has continued the prosperity of Ayuddhaya, the ancient capital. The Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha were built in the same style as the Grand Palace in the city of Ayuddhaya. In addition, he demanded to revive all the knowledge of the Ayuddhaya period, such as law, architecture, fine arts and other areas of philosophy to establish the system of government and infrastructure of the new capital. Today, thanks to the modern stream of globalization, Bangkok has grown larger and larger and has become a major city in Southeast Asia.

As mentioned, Bangkok is popular for tourists and shopping. Many tourist spots have history-related backgrounds, for example, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha and the Grand Palace. Wimanmek Mansion in Dusit Palace is one of the amazing places that visitors cannot miss. In addition, if tourists choose to see the mixture of cultures, it is recommended to visit Yaowarat Road or China Town, you can see the lifestyle of the Chinese-Thai residence, as well as the world’s largest golden Buddha statue. Also, Bangkok is a shopper’s paradise. Chatuchak Weekend Market, Ratchaprasong Intersection Area, Pratunam, Siam Shopping Area and MBK Center are very famous for tourists as they can buy good quality and cheap goods. For evening entertainment, Silom, Khaosarn and Sukhumvit Road are for visitors who need to relax after a full day’s journey.

Visiting Bangkok is much more than traveling and sightseeing. This is a valuable souvenir that you can get at a reasonable price. Not only will you take a lot of shopping bags and photos home with you, but you will also bring back the unforgettable experience that will make you want to come back.
