Chiropractic Insurance – Whole Body Vibration Billing

Chiropractic Billing Rebates for PowerVibe Users.

To facilitate reimbursement for exercise on a PowerVibe unit at your facility, we have developed the following billing guidelines:

– Integrating whole body vibration via a PowerVibe unit into chiropractic practice is very easy. This therapy equipment has been used to rehabilitate athletes for the last 40 years! It speeds up healing by increasing blood supply to the injured area, increases lymphatic drainage and stimulates proprioceptive response and builds strength and flexibility without straining injured tissues!

– When rehabilitation exercises are performed while weight is loaded on a vibrating platform, the beneficial effects of either of the two modalities are enhanced. Patients recover faster and feel better sooner!

As patients continue to do their specific exercises for their condition, now only on a vibration platform, the codes to use for this service remain the same and remain:

97110 – Therapeutic exercise to develop strength, endurance, ROM and flexibility

97112 – Neuromuscular reeducation (must be performed standing or sitting)

If you are using rehabilitation in your center to improve the progress of your patients and bill for these procedures, implementing the use of PowerVibe will be a very useful therapy tool.

Below are some helpful tips for correct billing for this therapy.

– When a patient is doing their rehabilitation exercises while on a PowerVibe along with chiropractic manipulative therapy (CMT) on a given treatment day, make sure their diagnoses reflect the need for CMT in addition to exercise;

– On the HICFA forms, you must list the spinal diagnosis for spinal manipulative therapy and then list the exercise portion of your procedure codes for the soft tissue, extremity, or injury diagnosis.

– Only then can the insurance company recognize and then reimburse the correct $ for each procedure performed.

Otherwise, your charge for the exercise portion will be included in the handling charge and therefore denied.
