How to create a “broad” list of keywords

An example of a broad keyword would be “dog training.” This may be the most generic word when you think about when people want to train their dog? But that’s what you think! Imagine if you were to sell an eBook or course on how to train your dog and bid on this BROAD keyword, “dog training.” You might get a lot of traffic if you were to use PPC, but you’ll find that few of these convert. In the end, he will lose a lot of money which will force him out of the market. So, you start to wonder why. This is because anyone can search for such a broad keyword! Not necessarily the person who has problems with the dog and looks for a solution on the Internet. Therefore, he gets a lot of information seekers, instead of potential buyers.

Do you see the difference here? The people who type these keywords are people who probably know what they are looking for. And if your ads were to appear with these words, you can imagine the chance of them converting by comparing it to “Dog Training”. So what you want to do is get inside these people’s heads. Instead of dogs, use breeds. Where to get this list of breeds? Just google it. Instead of just using training use synonyms and this can be made easy using the Thesaurus Since training has to deal with some behavioral issues you may want to add a list of behaviors. Mix and match these and you’ve got a long list of keywords. This is the meaning of an extensive keyword list. Take a look at these keywords again and compare them to “Dog Training” =)
