Jack Lalanne Juicer Review – The Power Juicer Classic

Chances are most of us have seen Jack LaLanne’s infomercial about the electric juicer, it’s been all over TV! Jack Lalanne is truly the American godfather of health and fitness. Jack preaches what he practices. At 95 years old, he looks fantastic, and he even works out for two hours a day! An hour and a half of muscle training and half an hour in the pool. It really is the genuine article when it comes to healthy eating and exercise.

In the infomercial, Jack Lalanne conveys how fruit and vegetable juices are an essential aspect of his healthy eating and wellness practice. He explains that he has helped develop the electric juicer so that they can extract much more juice from fruits and vegetables. The Power Juicer site claims that Power Juicers extract “up to 30% more juice than other juicers.”

I’ve been using a Jack LaLanne classic juicer for over a year now, this is my review…

advantage

1) This juicer is nice and solid when assembled and stays pretty steady during juicing.

2) The juicer runs incredibly quiet. Another juicer can be much louder. So I agree with the website’s statement “the electric juicer runs very quietly”.

3) The electric juicer has a large sprout. Many fruits and vegetables pass through the chute whole or simply by cutting them in half.

4) The juicer includes a very useful pulp collector that connects to the rear. The pulp can be used in many different recipes. When I juice carrots, I add the pulp to soups or stuffing for homemade turkey burgers. Tomato pulp is versatile, you can use it for soups, dressings, and sauces.

5) The reliability of the juicer has been perfect so far. I use the juicer practically daily and have not had any problems yet; it is holding up very well

cons

1) Plastic will stain, especially with orange colored produce like oranges and carrots. Cleaning the electric juicer immediately after use will help minimize staining, but it won’t completely remove it. However, individual pieces are available to buy, if the stain becomes too unsightly for you.

2) For my specific model “the power juicer classic” the spout is static. This becomes annoying because the juice will continue to slowly drip onto the counter once you remove the cup or glass. The good news is that the more expensive electric juicer models are designed with a spout that can be manually lifted, avoiding this drip problem.

3) Some of the harder products need a little more push to get through than what is stated in the instructions. The instructions conclude that you only need to apply light pressure for everything, which is mostly true. However, tougher vegetables like carrots can get stuck at the bottom of the chute, requiring extra spin to get past.

Conclution: For the most part, I find the Power Juicer Classic to be a great juicer and I’m happy with its performance. I don’t think you will find a better juicer for the $100 it costs, you can even find it cheaper by shopping around. When I buy my next juicer, I will most likely go for a slightly more expensive model with the non-drip spout!
