Sunday is family day: shopping and routines

Filipinos have or should I say that the weekend is generally considered the day of rest. From Monday to Friday, possibly until Saturday, the students go to their own universities and resume their studies while the workers do their work in the office or even in the area. Sunday is always reserved to be a “family day”. For Filipinos, the weekend is often referred to as market day, a day of shopping.

Sunday for Filipinos starts early, between 4 and 5 in the morning. Around this time, the puppies are given a walk in the nearby park, then the garden crops are sprayed, the floor is cleaned both inside and out before people have their breakfast around 6 in the morning. morning. While the little ones wake up and get ready for a whole day of fun that includes shopping.

The first stop is the local “wet and dry” market, to buy fresh vegetables, fish and meat in the morning, which will be prepared for lunch. People love to market early in the morning as the produce is fresh. Also, for Filipinos, the morning that begins with grocery shopping makes Sunday a family day.

After a purchase at the local market, cooking will follow and of course it is a family day. All family members will eat together when lunch is served.

However, afternoon shopping is exactly what kids love the most. People buy what they need for the whole week, household items, toiletries, supplies, etc. It is also time to buy the things they need at school. Department stores in the Philippines are usually huge and mostly packed with what you need, so you don’t have to visit different places to buy various things. I love shopping centers.

Normally, it is SM where Filipinos go shopping, as SM shopping malls are everywhere. But for a change we sometimes go to Robinson or Glorietta and Trinoma, which are a bit further away but worth the walk.
