Technology and Batteries for Cell Phones

Do you think cell phone batteries will ever catch up with cell phone technology? It seems that the phone is winning and there is no going back. It’s hard to believe that we now have a cell phone with 32Gig storage capacity, capable of recording videos, storing music, WiFi, taking pictures, surfing the Internet, do I need to continue?

The fact is that the cell phone battery needs to gain some ground, and I think we’ve made great strides with the lithium-ion battery, but as the technology continues to grow, so will battery life. These lithium ion batteries are by far the best on the market today.

The lithium ion battery has no memory, unlike the older nickel-cadmium or nickel-metal hydride ones, so you can charge the battery at any percentage, which means you don’t have to discharge the battery before charging it. With lithium batteries, you can use your phone while it charges without damaging the battery, which is not the case when you use old-style cell phone batteries.

One of the best features of the new lithium batteries is their size and weight. I can remember some of the older models where the battery was half the phone and up to an inch thick, so it seemed, they were very heavy. In today’s market, we have cell phones of all shapes and sizes, and lithium batteries pack a lot of power into a small package—for example, the iPhone, with a very slim design.

Although the lithium battery is a superior product you should still keep the options and functionality to a minimum, if you don’t use vibration or WiFi just turn them off, your battery specs will give you optimal runtime using the minimal options so the more things you have turned on, the more your battery will drain.

If you are looking for a backup or replacement battery I would suggest getting them from the manufacturer. Aftermarket counterparts are easy to find and usually cheaper, but are not recommended. Counterfeit cell phone batteries are often of cheaper quality and simply don’t perform like the original batteries, so if you’re in the market for a new one, be sure to do some research before buying.

Note: Please check your cell phone battery manufacture warranty, you should get one year replacement.
