Historians will look back at this recent post-election drama and probably use it. as an example of what happens, when, a populist politician, who seems to make others, in his party, toe the line, probably due to fear, and/or, other personal/political consideration, and/or, self-interest , continue to support their efforts, regardless of how, out of the ordinary, and, perhaps, dangerous, it created a clear and present potential danger to the best interests of the nation, its citizens, and the relevant, sustainable interests, of the planet. At least, in recent memory, we have never witnessed anything like these last 4 years, under the administration of President Donald Trump and the apparent enablers of it and, strange as that period sounds, the strangest to date. , has been, what we have witnessed, before election day and the days after. With that in mind, this article will briefly attempt to consider, examine, review and discuss what this means and represents, and why it is important.
one. Losing faith in our political system: One of the most worrying aspects of this drama is the risk that many will lose faith/trust in our political system and perhaps even in other components of the so-called American Dream. The consistent lies, half-truths and apparent distortions, articulated by this President, constantly, affirming, deceiving, etc., without any evidence, create doubts, at least, in the minds of his most ardent followers! When, as the numbers indicate, he lost the popular vote, by about 7 million votes, and, of course, the Electoral College, loss, he continues to claim victory, and too many seem to believe him!
two. Will future voters be apathetic?: It appears that voter turnout this year was one of the largest in recent history. However, in the math after what appears to be anything but a smooth and cooperative transition, will future voters be more apathetic because, to begin with, they feel like their voice/vote doesn’t count?
3. Improper use of the judicial system, for political purposes: Our nation is based on the Balance of Powers, between the Executive, Legislative and Judicial Branches of government. Our courts are supposed to be based on the rule of law, rather than politics. The courts must decide legal and judicial questions, and not become political, etc.! We must demand, in the future, that no one is above the law, and the courts must never interfere, with free and fair elections!
Four. Use of unsupported claims: One of the reasons nearly every lawsuit brought by the Trump campaign has lost in court is simply to make unsubstantiated claims and accusations, without evidence, should not be enough to make a defense, especially on such a serious matter. and significant. topic!
5. Who chooses elected officials?: Perhaps, one of the most dangerous and frightening behaviors and actions that we have witnessed, is the suggestion to overturn/reverse the will of the voters! Who elects these officials, and have they forgotten that they are elected by the will of the people and are supposed to serve and represent all of us, rather than their personal/political agenda and/or self-interest?
Wake up, America, and make sure we don’t witness these behaviors, in the future, by creating stronger protections and regulations/rules (with teeth) than we currently have! We cannot allow an extension of this type of policy!
