Get rid of your webmaster and go to WordPress

You’re working from home and you have an “ah-ha” moment, the idea that will change the world, or at least put a little more money in your pocket. You write your business plan, you start making contacts with people/companies that will help you launch your product/service, and then you hit a “wall”. You know that to get your idea to the masses, you need to use technology and that means you need a website.

“I don’t have the money to set up and maintain a website and I don’t know about code, I just want to bring my products/services to the masses.”

You can get the “Dummy” series and learn about Dreamweaver, Flash, HTML, and various other scripts to make your web presence innovative, but the learning curve is steep and time is critical. You could pay someone to build and manage your online store, but let’s say you have a product you want to list on the site…and it’s 9pm on a Sunday and your web designer is on vacation.

Sign in to WordPress.

WordPress started out as web (blog) logging software that you used to jot down your thoughts. You told people how good your coffee was at the local store or rated a movie.

That was then, this is now.

WordPress is used, not only for blogging, but also for designing websites. You can choose from a variety of designs that are both stylish and functional. If you have an idea about a promotion that you would like to offer at midnight, simply log in to your WordPress account and write it down. You can embed images of your product, video commercials about your business, and best of all, it’s quickly indexed by all major search engines; that means you will be found quickly and by the right people.

But I already paid for site storage elsewhere. No problem, you can download WordPress to your host and get started in several hours.

Do you want to know the best of WordPress??? It’s free!! If you want a domain name, you can spend less than $15.00 a year and have it point to your WordPress site.

There is a bit of a learning curve, but it’s not as steep as learning a new program that costs hundreds of dollars or learning code that would take you weeks, if not months. You can start using WordPress in as little as one day. There are numerous video tutorials on YouTube that can help you get started.

The social media aspects of WordPress are amazing, to say the least.

You can “share” your pages on Facebook, Digg, Twitter and many others. Interactivity can be easily set up on each and every page of your site, keeping visitors coming back. You can optimize each page for search engines that will target your key demographic without hiring expensive SEO (search engine optimization).

To break it down, WordPress is quick to learn, low on budget, and puts you in control of your business. I manage multiple WordPress sites and I will never go back to expensive software, complicated code, or paying for a site admin who is never around when I need them.
