In 2005 he failed to reach the final of the first two Grand Slam tournaments. He ended up losing the Australian Open to Safin and the French Open to Rafael Nadal. Despite this, he won the Wimbledon championship and the US Open. He has also won 4 ATP master services 1000 and 2 ATP 500 series. However, he lost the championship at the end of the year.

In 2006, he won three Grand Slams and only lost the French Open. This year he won the year-end championship for the third time.

In 2007 he won three Grand Slams again and lost the French Open to Nadal.

In 2008, Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka won gold at the Olympics.

In 2009, she could win two Grand Slam singles titles, namely the French Open and Wimbledon.
