WoW First Aid: A Useful Profession

First Aid, along with Fishing and Cooking, are secondary professions in World of Warcraft. Somehow, this profession never gained much popularity as it doesn’t improve either the earnings or the fun in the game compared to the other professions. However, all pro players, especially dps classes, had an ultimate ability in First Aid, as they used it in combat.

First Aid is a must for any dps class that can’t heal, for example the Rogue, Hunter, Mage, Warlock, Warrior, and Death Knight class and even some of the healing classes have it skilled as well. The best thing about FA is that you will be able to use it in any PVE and PVP battle.

What is First Aid all about?

First Aid consists of using bandages for the purpose of healing or eliminating the effect of a poison. You will need this ability when you take any type of damage. You can use it in boss fight instances (PVE) or in arenas and battlefields (PVP) as mentioned above.

How can I apply bandages?

You can create bandages that will be stored in your inventory in stacks of twenty. Aim at yourself or another player you wish to heal and click on a bandage. If you move a bandage effect it will stop and keep in mind that if you are healing someone else, he/she must be in range.

Once applied, a bandage cannot be used again on the same person until the 60-second debuff wears off. The debuff you can see is called “Recently Bandaged”. When the 60 seconds pass and a debuff wears off, a new bandage can be applied.

the material used

FA uses all kinds of fabrics. On the way to your max level, while grinding, you will come across various types of cloth. You can make bandages out of any type of fabric if your skill level is right. Leveling up your FA skill shouldn’t be a problem, as cloth is the most common drop, but keep in mind that it is only dropped by humanoids.

If you have already reached level 80 without FA training, you will have two options available: buy cloth in the AH or pure mob. If you choose to grind, the perfect place for it is instances, and as said before, humanoid npcs.

How to start?

You can start with leveling First Aid with the help of a trainer. The early FA coaches could be found in the racial starting areas. There are no requirements for training in the First Aid profession, only the initial fee, which is 10 copper. Linen is the first fabric you will come across and with it you can progress 75 skill levels.

After that, the next ability is 150, then 225, and so on. FA Trainers can be found in the cities of Azeroth, Outland, and Northrend. If a certain trainer is unable to teach you the desired skill, he will direct you to any other appropriate trainer for that skill level. If you don’t know which trainer to visit, one of the others can direct you to the right trainer.

First aid missions: are there any?

Yes there are. An FA quest called “Triage” is a quest that you must complete to become an FA trainee. Doctor Gustaf VanHowzen will ask you to save 15 of his patients by using special triage bandages that he will provide you. Alliance can pick up this quest in Theramore, while Hordies can pick it up in Hammerfall.
